EHSI managed engineering services for a study of historical, present day, and future groundwater levels at the Seattle Federal Office Building (FOB) to determine the impact of any changes in ground water levels on existing timber pile foundations. Of particular interest is the impact the Alaskan Way Viaduct Replacement Tunnel Project will have on groundwater levels in relation to the foundation system of the building.
As prime contractor, EHSI assembled a team of geotechnical, civil, and structural engineers and provided oversight of the installation of piezometer groundwater monitoring wells in the sub-basement of the FOB.
EHSI is currently managing the monitoring of long-term groundwater elevations beneath the FOB and providing quarterly reports of the findings.
